St. Stephen Syriac Orthodox Church is a member church in the North American Archdiocese of Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Church. His Eminence Archbishop Titus Yeldho currently serves as the head of the Archdiocese, as well as our church. We are a community dedicated to following the Jacobite Syrian rituals. The congregation now consists of 30+ families and approximately 120 regular visitors. The church trust now has 55 members. Rev. Fr. Abey Mathew currently serves as the Vicar of the Parish and the President of the Parish Council.
Rev. Fr. Abey Mathew, the dedicated Vicar of our church, has a rich background deeply rooted in faith and service. He is the son of Very. Rev. Fr. Elanganamattathil Mathai Cor-Episcopa and Mary Mathai, hailing from the serene village of Kunnackal, Valakam near Kolenchery. His spiritual journey began in his home parish, St. George Jacobite Church, Kunnackal, situated in the Kandanad diocese.
In the sacred bonds of marriage, he found a loving partner in Soumya, the daughter of Mr. Ealias Uthup and Mrs. Aliamma Ealias. Together, they are blessed with two wonderful boys, Joahan and Ealhan.
Rev. Fr. Abey Mathew has dedicated the past 21 years of his life to priesthood, serving congregations in India, the UAE, and now, Canada. His unwavering commitment to spiritual guidance and pastoral care has been a source of strength and inspiration to all who have had the privilege of knowing him.
Since May 2022, Rev. Fr. Abey Mathew has been leading our church with compassion, wisdom, and devotion, nurturing our faith community and guiding us on our spiritual journey. His presence among us is a testament to his calling and dedication to the service of God and His people. We are truly blessed to have him as our Vicar.
